Individual Highlights:

“Francesca Bassa (Houston, Texas), a 2009 Junior World team medalist, earned her first top-64 result of the new season with her 58th place result. Bassa drew Marie Florence Candassamy (FRA) in the table of 64 and lost the bout, 15-12.”-usfencing.org

A 2014 Senior World Team member, Anna Van Brummen (Houston, Texas) fell one touch short of earning her biggest career bout victory when she lost her table of 64 bout to 2012 Olympic silver medalist Britta Heidemann (GER), 15-14. Van Brummen placed 63rd overall.

Team Highlights

“On Sunday, Holmes, Hurley, Van Brummen and 2012 Olympic team bronze medalist Kelley Hurley (San Antonio, Texas) fenced in the team event.

Team USA lost to Ukraine, 41-40, in the table of 16, but rebounded to defeat Pan American rival Venezuela, 34-27, in the table for 9th – 16th place.

The Americans lost to Korea, the 2012 Olympic silver medalists, by a score of 40-45 in the next round, but finished the day with a 40-33 win against a German squad led by Heidemann.”-usfencing.org
