World Championships 2015!!!

Alliance fencing Academy qualified 5 athletes for the cadet/junior worlds this year – more than any other club in the nation. GO ALLIANCE!!!

Barbara Vanbenthuysen (cadet) – 6th place/ individual, 4th/teams

Madeline Antekeier (junior) – 4th/teams

Anton Piskovatskov (junior) – 26th/individual, 16th/teams

Jonathan Piskovatskov (cadet) – 40th/individual

Ari Simmons (junior) – 35th/individual, 16th/teams

Also competing at Worlds was Olympian/Alliance fencer Farrah Lee-Elabd (cadet) – 10th place/individual!

“Barbara Vanbenthuysen (The Woodlands, Texas) placed sixth in her debut at the Cadet World Championships for athletes ages 17 and under in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Wednesday. The first-time team member led Team USA’s epee fencers with the squad’s best result of the day.”
Teammates Farrah Lee-Elabd and Barbara Vanbenthuysen had to fence each other for the top 8! Barbara was the victor of the day with the very close score of 15-14! Way to go girls!!

“Team USA’s youngest member, [14]-year-old Jonathan Piskovatskov (Houston, Texas), went 4-2 in the pools to earn a bye into the table of 64 where he fell to Ondrej Strnad (CZE), 15-8.”
