A great weekend for Alliance fencers at the first international Cadet tournament of the season in Budapest Hungary!
Elizabeth Wang and Miles Weiss represented the United States in the team event portion of the tournament and helped bring their teams to a gold and silver medal finish respectively.
In the Women’s Epee Team Event, Team USA managed to win their match in overtime, 45-44 over Team Russia in a dramatic back-and-forth final.
In the Men’s Epee Team Event, Team USA also won their semifinal match in overtime against Russia in a dramatic final match where Miles Weiss outscored the Russian anchor 8-3 for a final score of 44-43.
Miles also had a strong showing in the Individual Men’s Event with a top-8 finish, while Levi Hughes finished his debut international tournament in the top-32.
In the Individual Women’s Epee event, Alliance was represented by Karen and Elizabeth Wang who finished their first international competitions in the round of 64 and 128 respectively in an event with over 280 fencers.
